Birthday dinners, long lunches and reasons to gather at The Park
At The Park, we have always been fond of meals with a little occasion attached to them. Not necessarily grand ones, though we are very fond of those too, but the sorts of lunches and dinners people quietly look forward to all week. A birthday requiring festive attention. Friends gathered around one table after a long stretch apart. Parents in town. Good news worth marking. Even bad news and moods, which can occasionally be improved by martinis.
For Birthday Dinners, Celebrations & Other Excellent Excuses
Celebrations are best approached with a degree of generosity. A table covered in a white cloth. A high-quality, expertly-mixed drink. Enough time to settle in. Food that feels vaguely impossible to recreate at home, however optimistic one may be.
Fortunately, our all-day menu lends itself well to this sort of moment. Perhaps yellowfin tuna tartare to begin, followed by something from the grill, a chicken parmigiana prepared with confidence and skill, or Dover sole for the traditionalists. There are burgers for those who refuse to overcomplicate matters, generous salads for the virtuous, and puddings for people sensible enough to understand that celebrations rarely improve with restraint.
The point, we find, is variety. Nobody enjoys ordering under pressure.
Group Dining
For gatherings of up to eight guests, our main dining room suits celebratory lunches and dinners rather handsomely, lively enough to feel atmospheric, comfortable enough to hear the entire conversation.
For something slightly more private, our private dining room, The Manhattan Room, seats up to twelve guests, making it ideal for birthdays, family lunches, discreet celebrations or dinners that require a touch more intimacy.
No speeches required, although we always welcome them.
A Restaurant for Occasions Near Hyde Park
There is something especially agreeable about gathering in this part of west London.
Perhaps it is the proximity to Hyde Park, which makes arriving feel pleasantly unhurried. Perhaps it is Queensway itself, which has long attracted people looking for somewhere that feels lively without ever becoming frantic.
Whatever the reason, celebrations seem to occur naturally at The Park. A birthday dinner becomes a late evening. Lunch quietly extends into cocktails. Someone orders pudding “for the table” and nobody objects.
As occasions go, we think this sounds rather perfect.
