Some of our colleagues have argued that we dreamed up a new wine club here at The Park simply because — and we quote — ‘you people just want another excuse to drink more wine and make new friends.’ So sue us. We do hope you’ll join The Miles Raymond Society, named in honour of the Pinot Noir-loving protagonist (played by Paul Giamatti) of the oenophile-favourite film Sideways. Our first meeting will be held on Thursday, 23rd April from 5 to 6.30pm in The Bar at The Park. Your hosts will be Sean Kelly, our beverage director and resident wine geek, and Ashley Baker, our head of content and resident wine rube. We are so optimistic that summer is imminent that our first meeting will be a masterclass in rosé. Sean will not only provide a primer on what, exactly, it is — and what sort of alchemy gives it that rosy colour — but he will wisely guide us through at least four bottles from various appellations we’ve never heard of.
And because good wine requires good food, we will also serve an inspired selection of carbohydrate-heavy small plates. (Although if you’d like to book in for dinner and move onto Pinot Noir, as Miles would do, we’d hardly blame you.)
The £60 event will be limited to 15 guests, and we look forward to seeing you there.
