Tricia Brock technically lives in London, but for most of 2025, she was on set all over Europe, working on her next projects. One of television’s most prolific and beloved directors, she has lent her talents to dozens of hit shows, including 30 Rock, The Walking Dead, Girls, The Great, and Bridgerton. In March, we can all enjoy the fruits of her latest labours starting with Young Sherlock, an adaptation of Andrew Lane’s Young Sherlock Holmes book series. Next up is American Classic, an American comedy about a Broadway star (played by Kevin Kline) returning to his hometown to save a family-run theatre. A regular at The Park, Tricia likes to dip in for lunch after a long walk in Kensington Gardens.
We are delighted to “catch” you here. What is it about this grey, rainy afternoon that makes The Bar at The Park seem like a very good idea?
The beautiful light! Even on a grey day, the light at The Park is so special. A total oasis.
Was there a particular reason you ordered that margarita?
I ordered the margarita because it is my favourite cocktail, and I had one here a few weeks ago. I can happily say that it is the best margarita in London!
We are delighted that you are back in London. Where can we see your work next?
I was away so much of last year, working on American Classic starring Kevin Kline and Laura Linney, and Young Sherlock, a wonderful new Guy Ritchie show also on Amazon. They both come out in March. Can’t wait.
We have our own reasons, but why do you think The Bar is such an inviting place to eat, drink, and socialize?
I think The Bar is one of the most beautiful rooms in the city. Beautifully designed, and then there’s the light!
Do you mind sharing your favourite dishes?
As an American, I think I can speak with authority: The cheeseburger is fantastic. And so is the chicken Milanese
What did your afternoon entail after your lunch?
After lunch, I had a lovely walk in the rain to the Circle Line and headed to Victoria for the Overground to South London. Then I went to Lala Books and bought The Correspondent.
If you could curate the perfect group of people to join you at The Bar—living or dead—who would they be?
Nora Ephron, Bruce Springsteen, Barack Obama, Jeremy King, Daphne Guinness, and Ashley Baker.
