Everyman at The Whiteley
When we’re not at The Park, you can reliably find us in front of one of this new cinema’s five screens, accompanied by a sweet-and-salty popcorn and a diminutive bottle of Diet Coke. It has been a brilliant addition to Bayswater, and through 16th August, the Everyman will be further expanding its footprint, hosting al fresco movie nights at unexpected spots around London.
8 Porchester Gardens
Foreign Exchange News
A café, newsagent, and money shop, this neighbourhood stalwart has been reimagined by founder and developer Gabriel Chipperfield, who also masterminded the revamp of Shreeji, on Chiltern Street in Marylebone, and most recently Pavillion News, on Pavillion Road in Chelsea. It has an excellent selection of magazines from all over.

Mandarin Kitchen
Opposite the Queensway tube station, this celebrated Chinese restaurant has been serving some of the most-discussed lobster noodles in Europe since 1978. (Some of you may recall that it was an Italian restaurant before that…and at one point, a rather popular disco…) It is still run by the Cheung family.

Normah’s
This traditional Malaysian restaurant in Queensway Market was founded in 2015 by Normah Abd Hamid, who had a long career as an accountant before turning her talents to the kitchen. Go quickly, before the Whole Foods moves in.

Happily, The Park is close enough to make a proper day of it when exploring all that our neighbourhood has to offer. Begin with a cocktail, linger over dinner, or come to us for something fortifying and very civilised. Bayswater is after all, best enjoyed with a good table secured in advance at the end of a long day exploring.
